Hungarian Usage and Language Consulting Research Group
Research area

The work of the research group is divided into two important areas: on the one hand, the running of language services for public purposes, including the legal obligations related to name giving and name changing; and on the other hand, research related to these services. The Language Consulting Service provides assistance in managing language problems, spelling questions and interpreting texts. The group’s research is primarily based on processing and organising data from practical work.

The legal obligation includes the provision of professional expertise on the registrability of new applications for surname and surname changes, taking into account the legislation. This work is carried out by the Names Working Group, a specific group within the research team.
