SpeakVar Workshop: A workshop on Intraspeaker and interspeaker variability in the context of speaker identification

The Speech Variability Project Group and the Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics invite you to participate in the Intraspeaker and interspeaker variability in the context of speaker identification Workshop.

The keynote speakers of the workshop are: Cécile Fougeron and Kirsty McDougall

The aim of this workshop is to bring scholars together who study the phonetic, phonological, or other linguistic aspects of spoken language to better understand and undermine the variability of the various phenomena between and within speakers in the speaker identification and verification processes. Our main interest relies on forensic linguistics and phonetics, however, you are encouraged to apply for the workshop with any research regarding speaker identification and verification. Therefore, the applications for the workshop are expected, but not restricted, to the following topics:

  • intra- and interspeaker variability
  • short term phonetic variability
  • longitudinal speech changes
  • phonetic variability
  • linguistic variability
  • forensic speaker identification
  • earwitness identification
  • linguistic evidence
  • speaker specific features in speech
  • pathological variation
  • speech type related variation
  • other related topics

The workshop will take place in person at the Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics, 33 Benczúr Street, Budapest 1068, Hungary. In case of any special epidemic reason, the workshop will not be delayed but held via Zoom.

The working language of the conference will be English for the first two days, then Hungarian for the third (last) day.
