Internet Translators for all European Languages (iTranslate4)

The aim of the project was to provide the highest quality machine translation possible among the languages of the EU, building upon Europe’s leading machine translation systems. Through the publicly accessible iTranslate4.eu portal, users could communicate in over 30 languages, translate texts, entire websites with a single click, or engage in chat conversations.

The system offered superior automatic translation compared to its competitors for important European language pairs, such as English-German, French-Italian, or even English-Hungarian. For many language pairs, users could choose from alternative translations, facilitating the understanding of the original text.

Various supplementary products allowed the portal’s functionality to be integrated into any website or different software products. The machine translation engine was also accessible through a programmer’s interface (API) for a fee.
