Sali A. Tagliamonte talks and workshop

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that Sali A. Tagliamonte (University of Toronto) will be a guest at the Research Centre for Linguistics between October 24 and 27, 2023, as part of the project “Variation in Middle Hungarian: a register perspective” (NKFIH 135186). During her visit, she will give two public lectures, and deliver a two-day workshop on the steps and methodological aspects of variationist sociolinguistic research. On October 25th and 26th, we will cover the following topics during the workshop:

  1. The linguistic variable
  2. Formulating the hypothesis and operationalizing claims
  3. Quantitative analysis
  4. Change in progress in the individual and the society
